November 11, 2011 The Beaver Moon

the return from Thanksgiving

Included in  all things that I am thankful for,  is my herd of non-farm animals consisting of three dogs and two cats. We drive to Llano Largo with these somewhat compatible creatures captured in the back of the  4Runner. Last evening was the epitome of patience for everyone. This time it wasn't merely Archibauld, my 6 year old kitty getting carsick loudly in his carrier. No,  this was WAY worse. This time it was Ike, 80 lb retriver mix. He started pawing at the windows and back door wanting to get out. We were on I-25 and it was not a good time! Next thing I saw was him squatting in the back....eeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww  IKEY!!

Yep, he pooped right in the back, right there in the midst of the herd, the luggage, the leftover groceries, yep. It was about 6 miles before we pulled over and took a look. Poor Ike. We love him so! We just gingerly cleaned it up and headed on home. That's love. Yes indeed.

August in the mountains of northern Colorado

What an astonishing plant, little elephant heads that nod in the mountain air, happy and excited for the wind. This plant has a special quality for finding the tension and letting it go.
Thank you pedicularis.

wasp baby

This little guy poked his head out after I brought the nest into the house to examine. What a complex architectural design! Octagonal tunnels bound together in perfect symmetry . I , being the ignorant person that forgets about details when over excited, forgot to think that perhaps the wasp nest was still being used! Oops! Sorry wasp baby!
